Announced last December, Born of Bread is a tasty adventure RPG that’s a throwback to classic cartoony games with fun characters and charming stories for both adults and children. It features “quirky” team-based/real-time hybrid combat. At the time, the game was only announced for PC, but when it launches in December it will also be available on consoles.
Beings from another age are causing havoc across the land, and their mischief is a great threat to just about everyone. Loaf, a golem born of bread who possesses a infinite childlike wonder, becomes an unlikely hero when he and his new friends find themselves in the middle of a drama 1,000 years in the making.
The world is full of mysteries, and areas range from enigmatic ruins to the Forest of Roots to the Frosty Flats. Loaf and his buddies will face off against menacing bad guys and engage in that quirky hybrid combat. The turn-based battles features a dash of real-time mini-games. There are side missions to complete. The cast of characters is eclectic.
“We’re so excited to be able to bring people Born of Bread in time for the holidays, as it’s a wholesome adventure that feels perfect for the whole family,” said WildArts Lead Designer and Programmer Nicolas Lamarche in a press release. “Born of Bread was inspired by classic comedy RPGs of our childhood that have remained a part of us in the decades that followed. Thankfully the genre has remained evergreen and we think fans of all ages will be nourished by Loaf’s journey.”

Developed by WildArts and published by Dear Villagers, Born of Bread will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series.
